Sketch N Scrap - December 2020 Sketch # 215 by Lisa Hidy / Sister For Trade

  Good Morning -

It's that time ladies . . . .time for my December monthly sketch reveal @ Sketch N Scrap.

Today I'm sharing with you my take on Sketch #215 by the very talented Lisa Hidy at Sketch N Scrap

I created this layout of my beautiful grandbabies - Everly Claire and Harrison Grant. It initially started out as a "First Easter" page (as it technically was), but since it also included a picture with Everly in it, I decided to change it up a bit . . .the title is perfect, as he absolutely adores his sister, but there are days when she literally cannot tolerate him, and is a bit "not nice" to him. They definitely add new meaning to the phrase - sibling rivalry.

I of course had to change the sketch up a bit to fit my 8-1/2 x 11 needs and used an older line of Bella Blvd Papers - Sweet Sweet Spring.

Real Men Wear Masks

 Hello everyone!

Thought I'd play along this weekend with the Scrap Our Stash’s December Mask Up challenge. Covid-19 has definitely touched each of our lives in one way or another. . . as for me, I'm grateful that my husband and I have been able to continue to go to work, we still have a steady income, and my son was able to start his sophomore year of college in person (he commutes locally).

My journaling is a bit wordy, but I wanted to get the details on paper so one day when he looks back on this. . . .well, you know.

My journaling -

Friday August 21st, 2020

First Day of your Sophomore Year at Lycoming College. Pictures were taken afterwards.I managed to get a few pictures of you while I was standing on the outskirts of the college campus. Only students were  allowed on campus no parents and no visitors due to COVID-19. You were worried just a tad bit while I was taking pictures as suspension was threatened if you were caught breaking the rules.

Sunday Dec 6th, 2020 (journaling)

You managed to attend the whole semester in person. Numerous safety measures were put into play to create a safer environment - daily check ins via text and emails, mask wearing, daily temperature checks,  smaller classes & classrooms being added (that weren’t classrooms  before), cleaning desks (that were set 6’ apart) before and after class, and more time to get from one class to another to allow for social distancing. From Aug 1st Nov 30th there were a total of 15 positive cases of COVID-19 among  students, faculty, and staff.

And here’s my take on the challenge:

Scraplifting Monique Liedtke

So . . .another lift from another My Creative Scrapbook Design Team Member - Monique Liedtke. My goal is to Kill this Kit by scraplifting her Design Team . . .
Layout #2 using the November Creative Kit that includes papers from the Crate Paper Hey, Santa line. I really like the way Monique used the tags for her topper, and managed to used so may die cuts from the ephemera packages. . . .since I scrap 8-1/2 x 11, I had to make lots of adjustments on this one.
 Here's Monique's Layout -

and here's my take on it.

Journaling is a bit personal on this one, but felt it needed to be told. Mental Illness is no joking matter, and I thank God everyday that we're in a good spot in our lives right now.

Christmas Day, Tuesday December 25th, 2018 The Meadows.

Christmas was a bit different this year. This year you spent Christmas Day @ the Meadows in Centre Hall. At this point you’d been there since early am on Thursday the 20th. As of today, we still aren’t sure when you’re going to be coming home.  We did find out that you had decided to check yourself out yesterday, so your name “Rich” on the White Board now has a black triangle (lock down patient) instead of an orange ribbon (self- harm patient). The black triangle means that you are now to be in lock down for 72 hours in which time the doctors have until then to review your chart and determine whether or not you’re ready to come home or not. Still no shower as of today.

The Meadows provided small Christmas presents for each of the residents a stuffed animal, coloring books and a fleece blanket. They even gave you a deck of cards which absolutely made your day as you’re currently into doing card tricks. I hate that you missed Christmas but I did bring you a print out of your Steam wish list to plan your purchases for when you do come home.

We arrived around 10:00 am for a visit, but were told that it was going to be awhile as the kids in your building (bldg. E) were acting up and the whole building was in lock down at the moment. Since you yourself were in lockdown, you weren’t able to leave the building anyways, so when we were finally able to see you, we had to sit in one of the conference rooms with a sitter.

I actually snuck my phone in today and when the sitter walked out, I took a picture. I guess it’s the scrapbooker in me wanting to document the day Christmas Day. A few tears were shed as this is never an easy situation, but I know you’re getting the help that you need and that you’ll be home soon safe and sound.

Scraplifting Patty McGovern - Pugh

So I decided to try and scraplift Patty McGovern-Pugh this weekend, using my November My Creative Scrapbook Kit (creative) - which includes the Crate Paper Hey, Santa line. I must admit, it's not my favorite line so I figured that I'd lift a few layouts from the Design Team there and try and kill the kit quickly . . .
This is the original by Patty . . .

and here is my lift . . .* I literally tried to CASE it!

It's not exactly how I'd envisioned it to turn out, especially after having it downsize it to an 8-1/2 x 11 platform.
I'm ok with it, and am going to call it done! One more for the books.

November Sketch @ Let's Get Sketchy

Did I mention how much I love sketches??

I stumbled upon the Let's Get Sketchy blog last month and did the October Sketch, and this month I'm doing the November one!

November's Sketch can be found here -  Let's Get Sketchy . . .

. . . and here's my take on the sketch - of course I altered the sketch to fit my 8-1/2 x 11 needs, and used two pictures instead of one. * I couldn't NOT use them both. . . .

Pictures are of Miss Everly this Summer while she was visiting us here in Pennsylvania. We took her to a small family gathering and she spent the afternoon running around the field, playing with her Chelsea doll, and enjoying playing in the dirt . . .then when it was time to leave she wanted to give Nanny & Aunt D hugs and kisses. . . .like they always say, a little dirt never hurt right?? August 1st, 2020

Thanks for Visiting!

I'm super excited to share with you the first
sketch in November - Sketch #443
created by the talented designer Miyuki Kawakami!

. . . and this is my 8-1/2 x 11 take on the sketch above. This is a layout of my grandson, Harrison Grant. We all know how much we wish those babies wouldn't grow soooo fast, and Harrison is no exception. Slow Down Harrison, slow down!

Sketch N Scrap - November 2020 - Layout #212 by Lisa Hidy / Artist for Hire

 Good Morning Ladies -

It's that time again . . . .time for another monthly reveal @ Sketch N Scrap

Today I'm sharing with you my take on Sketch #212 by the very talented Lisa Hidy at Sketch N Scrap -

I created this layout of my beautiful granddaughter Miss Everly Claire. Pictures are from her visit with us earlier this Summer. She always needs to be outside, and playing with sidewalk chalk is her thing. . .drawing on the sidewalk, on the back deck, and sometimes even on the house walls . . .heck it washes away right??

I'm an 8-1/2 x 11 scrapper, so I adjusted the sketch to fit my needs and used a very old line of Basic Grey Papers - the line is called Lemonade. I thought it fit the pictures perfectly. Don't you agree??

October Sketch @ Let's Get Sketchy

I've scrapped more layouts this year than I have in the past five years put together!! Seriously, I'm a hard core collector of supplies (the word hoarder comes to mind), but rarely find the time nor motivation to get anything scrapped!!

Welcome grandbabies, sketches, and scraplifting . . .

I found this sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy and thought I'd give it a try . . .

. . . and here's my take on the sketch - of course I altered the sketch to fit my 8-1/2 x 11 needs, and used two pictures instead of one. * I couldn't NOT use them both. . . .

Pictures are of Miss Everly sleeping. We made a trip to Greenville, South Carolina this Summer to see Jackie and the babies, and these pictures were taken right before I was about to wake her up and surprise her. July 10th, 2020.

Thanks for Visiting!

Scraplifting Tracy McLennon

Let's just say I'm a super huge fan of Tracy McLennon's work . . and when I received my October My Creative Scrapbook Kit, I knew I was going to straight up lift this layout!! I was super excited too, as I love, love, love her layout!.

Well first off, it's always a challenge for me to lift 12x12 layouts as I scrap 8-1/2 x 11, but imagine my surprise when I went looking for all those little leaves . . .and they weren't in the kit!!

Kudos to YOU Tracy for fussy cutting all those leaves from one of the enclosed papers!!

I do hope I managed to do your layout justice! Thanks for the inspiration!!

My take on Tracy's layout . . . .

.I had some sizing issues as I scrap 8-1/2 x 11, but I think I mangaed to stay pretty true to the sketch.
